LESSON 2

YOUR CONVERSION

Giving your life to Christ is the greatest step you will ever make. For in so doing, a miracle took place in your soul. You old sinful nature was replaced with the nature of Christ. When you by faith received Christ as Lord and Savior of your life, you were born again. You became a child of God. But God does not want you to remain a child all your life. He expects you to "grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 3:18). It is for this purpose that these lessons are set out.

The best way to study your Bible is to approach it prayerfully and allow the Holy Spirit to teach you (see John 14:26; 16:13). Forget your old ideas and man's ways. As you study God's Word, we ask you to do so with an open mind and a heart that says "Yes" to God. Receive the Word of God not only in your mind, but allow it to speak to your heart.

Jesus said, "I assure you, unless you turn from your sins and become as little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven." (Matt. 18:3). To be converted means to TURN FROM SIN TO GOD. This is done by confessing your sins to God and asking the Lord Jesus to forgive you and to come by His Spirit and control your life.

Many people make the mistake of judging their salvation by their feelings. While our feelings are involved in our salvation, we cannot depend upon them because feelings so often change. We can depend on God's Word which says: "I will never, never fail you nor forsake you." Hebrews 13:5 (Living Bible).
