Our first obligation is to God for the greatest commandment is that we love the Lord with all our heart. The second great commandment is that we love our neighbor as our self. In Romans 12:18 we read these words: "Do your part to live in peace with everyone, as much as possible". If we fulfil these two great commandments of our Lord, then we will truly be good citizens of our country and will live a life that is well pleasing to god.

........................................................................................................................................................

8. What shall happen to those who resist the powers which have been set up of God? Romans 13:2 ................................................................................................................................................

9. Romans 13:7 instructs us to, "Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and import duties, and give respect and honor to all to whom it is due." This means:

(a) We are to refuse to pay taxes, duty and give honor and respect to none but god.

(b) We are to be humble, giving taxes, duty, honor and respect to those whose position requires it.

(c) We are to be willing to give taxes, duty, honor and respect only when demanded of us.

(Please underline correct answer.)

10. Caesar was the Roman emperor when Jesus spoke the words, "Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are God's". This means:

(a) We should give our government what it expects of us, and give to God what He expects of us.

(b) We should criticize our government but praise our God.

(c) We should take from the government its benefits and give them to God.

(Please underline the correct answer).

11. When the laws of our land are against the laws of God, who are we to obey God or man?

"Obey your ..................... .......................... .......... ........... ............... ................ ................ Their

work is to .................... ................ ................... ..................., and they know they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this joyfully and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit".

A person who is truly at rest with God will also be restful as a citizen of his country. No matter how confused governments may be, or what hardships and trials may come, he knows that God is in Control. If you want a happy and peaceful life take heed to the words of Philippians 4: 6, 7: "Don't worry about ANYTHING; instead, pray about EVERYTHING; tell God your needs and don't forget to thank Him for His answers. If yo do this, you will know God's peace which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus". (Living Letters)
